BUCHARESTBucharest is the capital city of Romania and a fascinating city of contrasts with a modern identity and a glorious architecture. With one of Europe's fastest growing economies as well as an increasing presence of international tech companies and an extensive IT environment, Bucharest is turning into a thriving city for programming. The concentration of startups, investors, coworking spaces and events are increasing - this is a clear signal of success for the startup ecosystem.
SOFIABulgaria's capital city Sofia is a modern and youthful city, distinguished by its unique combination of European and Communist-style architectures. Sofia is also the headquarter for many major national and international companies which operate in Bulgaria and Eastern Europe. Six or seven years ago, Sofia was not appearing on any startup map but in the past several years, the startup ecosystem in Bulgaria and especially in Sofia changed its face completely.
ZAGREBCroatia's capital city Zagreb is located on the slopes of Medvednica Hill to the north and the floodplain of the Sava River to the south. It's the political, business and cultural capital of Croatia and also the most important hub for transportation since it connects roads, rail and air traffic. The young and dynamic startup community sees an increasing number of events, conferences, coworking spaces and venture funding - hence, the startup scene is growing and becoming more and more vibrant.
LJUBLJANAAs the capital of Slovenia and a city with a green soul, Ljubljana is a lively green metropolis which combines the self-confidence of large European cities and the charm of a small capital. But how active is its startup scene? The Slovenian entrepreneurship and startup system is flourishing – especially in Ljubljana.
With their achievements and activities the local startup ecosystem represents a new generation of innovative entrepreneurs.
WARSAWWarsaw is the capital city of Poland and situated in the east-central part of the country. Poland's largest city is the European powerhouse of innovation, science and culture and is bursting with ambition when it comes to fostering a thriving ecosystem on innovative tech startups. Networking at all levels, sharing of knowledge and financial support from investors are reasons why Vienna is a major startup hub.
BUDAPESTBudapest is the capital of Hungary and the political and economic centre of the country. Companies, including startups, choose the city for their headquarters. The reasons are simple: a great infrastructure, an extensive public transport network, a growing number of startup accelerators and a wide range of funding sources. Especially the tech community with its innovative products and platforms is buzzing. Budapest is a real startup hub in Europe.
PRAGUEPrague is the capital of Czech Republic and also the historical capital of Bohemia.
